MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Star Tribune has hired award-winning journalist Sarah Todd as its Timberwolves reporter, bringing more than a decade of NBA reporting experience to its sports staff.
Todd joins the Star Tribune after nearly seven years covering the Utah Jazz for the Deseret News, where she delivered comprehensive, year-round reporting on the team and the NBA. A two-time Utah Sportswriter of the Year, Todd brings experience spanning breaking news, game coverage, player profiles, enterprise reporting and film analysis.

At the Deseret News, Todd covered the Jazz as a solo beat reporter while also leading the Utah Jazz Insiders newsletter and producing a team-focused podcast. She has appeared frequently on television, radio and podcasts, sharing her reporting and analysis with local and national audiences.

Before joining the Deseret News in December 2019, Todd covered the Philadelphia 76ers for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News and their digital platforms. She previously worked as a sports copy editor, writer, producer and page designer at the Inquirer.
Todd began covering the NBA in 2013 as the Golden State Warriors beat reporter for SFBay.ca. She also served as the outlet’s sports director and editor, managing coverage of professional and collegiate teams across the Bay Area.
The National Sports Media Association named Todd Utah Sportswriter of the Year for 2022 and 2024. Her work has also earned recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Society for Features Journalism and the San Francisco Press Club.
Todd holds a bachelor’s degree in print and online journalism from San Francisco State University, with a minor in European studies.
