Minnesota Student Newspaper Shut Down After Clash with Superintendent

Posted
By: The student newspaper at Faribault high school is shut down -- after the student editors refused to allow the superintendent to review an article before publication.

Superintendent Bob Stepaniak shut down the publication Monday.

The article in question was about the investigation of a middle school teacher, following a parent's complaint about inappropriate communication with a student.

The teacher has not been charged, but is on paid administrative leave.

Student editor Christen Hildebrandt offered to present the article to the district's attorneys for review, instead of to the administration. But Stepaniak refused and says the Echo is shut down until the issue is resolved.
