A journalist from the network Al Jazeera detained in Syria and held in Iran for almost three weeks has been released, her family and the Qatar-based network said Wednesday.
The journalist, Dorothy Parvaz, disappeared upon arrival in Syria last month while she was on assignment to cover antigovernment protests. Her whereabouts remained unknown until Syrian officials acknowledged a week ago that they had sent her to Iran shortly after detaining her.
On its English-language Web site, Al Jazeera quoted its own spokesman as saying that Ms. Parvaz "has been in contact with her family and we are with her now to find out more about her ordeal over the last 18 days."
