Missouri House Committee Passes Measure Ending Tax Break for Newspapers

JEFFERSON CITY -- Missouri lawmakers are turning to newspapers to help fill a void created by the elimination of an insurance program for the blind.

The House Budget Committee approved a spending plan Wednesday that would eliminate the $28 million Medicaid-backed blind pension health insurance program. But the budget also would create a scaled-back program with money from the elimination of tax exemptions for newspapers.
