By: E&P Staff Mochila has added six more "members," including the Associated Press, the Washington Post Express newspaper, and the Motor News Media automotive news service.
The April-launched
Mochila describes itself as an "iTunes-like media marketplace." It offers print, photo, audio, and video content for sale "a la carte" and "on demand" to newspapers, magazines, Web sites, and other customers.
Sellers upload content to Mochila.com and then set the price, licensing rules, embargoes, and other restrictions. Buyers search for content, review the price and licensing terms, and then purchase their choices from their shopping cart -- followed by an immediate download to their computer. Mochila also provides online advertising and revenue-sharing opportunities.
The three other new members added by Mochila (which will exhibit at the June 4-7 World Association of Newspapers' World Editors Forum in Moscow) are Hearst Magazines, EducationWorld.com, and the Future US magazine/Web publisher.
