By: E&P Staff Mochila -- which bills itself as a "global online marketplace for print and photo content" -- will unveil a Spanish-language edition at the Sept. 29-Oct. 3 Inter American Press Association gathering in Mexico City.
The Spanish edition will launch with Mexico's El Universal newspaper. Also signing as Mochila Espanol members are the Meximerica Media-published Rumbo, a network of Spanish-language newspapers targeting Houston, San Antonio, and the Rio Grande Valley; and the Freedom Communications-owned Excelsior, a daily newspaper published in Southern California.
"Mochila Espanol is a response to the enormous demand for the Mochila marketplace from Spanish-language media," said Mochila CEO Keith McAllister in a statement.
The Spanish edition of
Mochila will allow members to upload and search both Spanish and English content. It will also enable Spanish-language media in the U.S. to acquire content from the home countries of their readers.
Mochila's expansion into Latin America also includes the signing of Editora Abril, a large communications/publishing group in the region.
In addition, Mochila said it's already working with media companies -- such as the Associated Press -- which will also offer content to Spanish members.
