By: Staff Reports This Time, Business Side Is Impacted
The Los Angeles Times cut about 24 business-side jobs as part of a return to a more traditional management structure that should allow for faster decision-making, a spokeswoman said.
The paper's four editions, which used to have considerable autonomy, will now come under a more centralized reporting structure.
The action follows the recent elimination of 170 jobs in editorial and advertising related to the closing of 14 struggling community news sections and 20 Internet positions as new owner Tribune Co. sought to improve profits. The Times employs about 6,500 people.
"The big moves have been made," spokeswoman Martha Goldstein said. "We're not going to have any significant job eliminations going forward."
