By: Dave Astor "America's Line" columnist Benjamin Eckstein is continuing to expand his political-odds offerings as Election Day nears.
One new set of numbers focuses on how many electoral votes Barack Obama might get. Odds are 6/5 for less than 270, 4/1 for 270-280, 5/1 for 281-290, 5/1 for 291-300, and 6/1 for more than 300.
Another part of the column notes that Democrats currently hold 236 seats in the 435-seat House of Representatives, and gives odds for how many the Dems will have after the election. The numbers: less than 236 (12/1), 236-242 (3/1), 243-249 (8/5), 250-255 (5/2), more than 255 (5/1).
In the Senate, there are currently 49 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and two independents. The odds for how many seats the Dems will hold after the election: 50-53 (7/5), 54-56 (4/5), more than 56 (7/2), less than 50 (100/1).
Eckstein, who's also offering other political-odds numbers, does his mostly sports-oriented column for about 125 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
