By: E&P Staff Adam Moss, assistant managing editor for features at The New York Times and former editor of The New York Times Magazine, is leaving to become editor in chief of New York magazine, according to a report at NYTimes.com. His last day will be Feb. 13.
Moss will replace Caroline Miller, who has been editor at New York for some time. Bruce Wasserstein, chairman of investment bank Lazard, acquired the magazine for $55 million from Primedia in December.
In his current position, which he started in August 2003, Moss oversees these Times sections: culture, style, travel, circuits, real estate, escapes and special sections; plus the Times Magazine and Book Review. He was named editor of the Times Magazine in 1998 and became associate managing editor at the newspaper in 2000.
In a statement, Times Executive Editor Bill Keller called Moss a "conceiver and invetor of magazines." He added, "Adam is one of a handful of editors I know who is equally (and remarkably) adept at high-end journalism and popular culture."
A replacement at the Times has not been named.
