'Mt. Vernon News' Expands Education Site

By: E&P staff The Mount Vernon (Ohio) News has expanded and redesigned the Web site for its Newspapers in Education program, the newspaper announced yesterday.

The site includes information about the program, teacher order forms, lesson plans, local NIE sponsors, and upcoming chapter stories and programs.

The NIE site now also includes a Teacher?s Only section, which only current NIE teachers will be able to access with a password.

NIE uses community sponsorship to provide newspapers free to schools as educational tools in part to cultivate young readers. The organization also provides children's content for newspapers. Today, there are more than 900 participating newspapers in the United States, and NIE programs in 51 other countries around the world.
