'Mullets' Ends With Visits to Other Comics

Posted
By: E&P Staff The just-ended "Mullets" strip left syndication with a flourish, as its characters sought work in other comics.

For instance, Scab auditioned as one of the birds in "Peanuts" reruns, and Kevin visited "Pearls Before Swine," where he apparently did away with the main characters of Rat and Pig. Other comics visited or referenced over a two-week period included "Rex Morgan, M.D.," "The Boondocks," "The Family Circus," "Hagar the Horrible," "Dilbert," "The Amazing Spider-Man," "Cathy," "Momma," "For Better or For Worse," "Mutts," "Frazz," and the formerly syndicated "Calvin and Hobbes."

Steve McGarry (who's president of the National Cartoonists Society) and Rick Stromoski collaborated on "Mullets" for Universal Press Syndicate.
