NAA Celebrates International Newspaper Carrier Day October 7

By: E&P Staff The Newspaper Association of America has designated an International Newspaper Carrier Day on Oct. 7, to honor all newspaper carriers. The day corresponds with National Newspaper Week (Oct. 1-7), sponsored by the Newspaper Association Managers.

To promote the day, the NAA has posted ?Top 10 Reasons to Celebrate International Carrier Day? ads on its website to recognize carriers? contribution to the newspaper industry.

?Newspaper carriers come from all walks of life, but they share common traits of hard work, service and dedication to the industry and their communities,? NAA President and CEO John F. Sturm said in a statement. ?We are pleased to set aside this special day to show our appreciation for this essential service to the industry.?

Famous former newspaper carriers include John Wayne, Warren Buffett and Martin Luther King, all of whom are honored in the NAA?s Newspaper Carrier Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame was started by the International Circulation Managers Association in 1960, and is now run by of the NAA Circulation Federation.
