The Newspaper Association of America presented its Digital Edge
Awards (Edgies) on Friday during the Connections conference being
held in Washington.
Washingtonpost.com took home the most Edgies, winning in four
categories, including Best News Site and Best Classified Use of
New Media in the category of circulation over 250,000. Blethen
Maine Newspapers, The Virginian-Pilot, The
Providence (R.I.) Journal, and The Topeka
(Kans.) Capital-Journal each won two Edgies.
Rob Curley, manager of the Midwest content group, Morris Digital
Works, and director of new media at The Topeka Capital-
Journal was named the 2001 NAA New Media Pioneer. He was
cited for his innovative ideas and for mentoring young people in
the industry.
