NAA Publishes New Color Ink Book

Posted
By: E&P Staff "Newspaper Color Ink Book, Volume 10," from the Newspaper Association of America's Technology Group, seeks to aid in production of exact colors when printing on newsprint.

Now available from the NAA (800/651-4622), the book offers guidance on the best colors attainable with NAA-Color inks printed to Specifications for Newsprint Advertising Production (SNAP) standards.

"The 50 colors in this book are the best, distinguishable colors in the available color ranges that can be reproduced reliably across many newspapers and multiple newspaper print sites," NAA Senior Vice President for Technology Tom Croteau said in statement announcing the updated publication. "While newspapers can produce a wide variety of colors between these ranges, they may not be able to do so on a guaranteed color-match basis."

The book includes references for ink mixing, ink density adjustment, and visual color matching. Tear-out color swatches are designed to help newspapers communicate effectively with advertisers and agencies. As a common reference for artists/designers and printers, its color proofs include information printers will use to reproduce an intended color.
