By: E&P Staff The McClatchy Company announced that its Raleigh, N.C.-based interactive media division, Nando Media, will now be known as "McClatchy Interactive."
"McClatchy Interactive better represents who we are today and better identifies the increasingly important contributions our interactive operations make to McClatchy's overall success," Christian Hendricks, vice president for interactive media for McClatchy, said in a statement.
Nando's roots date to 1994 as the online arm of The News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh, N.C. In 1995, McClatchy purchased The News & Observer and Nando with the long-term strategy of centralizing the company's interactive operations there. Since then, Nando has evolved into the Internet hub for McClatchy's newspapers and is also a provider of online publishing tools and services for media businesses and organizations across the United States and Canada.
McClatchy Interactive provides online publishing solutions for dozens of newspapers across the United States and Canada, including McClatchy's 12 dailies. The company provides a complete digital publishing solution and the business consulting to assist newspapers in generating revenue and workflow efficiencies to grow their business.
McClatchy publishes 12 daily and 18 non-daily newspapers including the Star Tribune in Minneapolis; The Sacramento Bee, The Fresno Bee and The Modesto Bee in California, The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C.; and the Anchorage Daily News.
McClatchy also operates leading local websites in each of its daily newspaper markets, offering users information, comprehensive news, advertising, e-commerce and other services.
