National Post, Globe and Mail Announce Layoffs

It was a rough afternoon for the Canadian newspaper industry on Monday, with both the National Post and the Globe and Mail announcing layoffs.

About half a dozen editing positions were axed from the Post newsroom. One of them was social media editor Jeremy Barker, who tweeted “I am now @nationalpost’s former social media editor. Laid off this afternoon with a few others” about 3:30 p.m.
