By: E&P Staff After taking Mondays off for the summer, the Toronto-based National Post has resumed Monday publication.
"Many thanks to our readers and advertisers for understanding this difficult but necessary decision taken in troubled economic times," Editor-in-Chief Douglas Kelly said in a note to readers.
The National Post announced in late April that it would not publish on Mondays between July 6 and Sept. 14 in a move designed to save costs while its parent Canwest Global Communications Corp. was in a cash crunch that continues.
No one was laid off as a result of the suspension of Monday publication.
Monday editions are now two-section papers with news, commentary and the Financial Post business pages in the first section, and sports and the Arts & Life features pages in the second.
Page two of the first section is devoted to what Editor-in-Chief Douglas Kelly called in a note to readers "a unique Post take on the week to come."
