By: E&P Staff NBC called the GOP race in New Hampshire for John McCain just after 8, but needed until 10:30 to call it for Hillary Clinton.
Barack Obama, contrary to polls, was locked in a close battle with Clinton just after polls closed in New Hampshire. John Edwards trails. When polls closed at 8:00, NBC News, surprisingly, could not project Obama the winner.
McCain in raw vote led Romney by about 6% and Hillary led with 3% edge with 70% in.
Exit surveys showed that about 43% of the Democratic vote came from independents.
