By: The publisher of the Columbus Telegram has resigned, and a new publisher of the Lee Enterprises newspaper will be announced soon.
Bob Blackman announced his resignation to newspaper staffers in an e-mail. During a staff meeting Monday, the 61-year-old Blackman said he and his wife plan to take some time to decompress and maybe travel.
Blackman joined eastern Nebraska newspaper in spring 2004, after having served as publisher of the Beatrice Daily Sun, another Lee Enterprises paper.
During his tenure with the Telegram, Blackman served on the boards of the United Way, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and the Columbus Family YMCA, among other community endeavors.
Blackman's replacement is expected to be announced Friday.
