The Press-Enterprise, Riverside, Calif. died Dec. 9 at Riverside Community Hospital from complications of cancer. He was 80.
Pia started his career as an advertising sales trainee in 1946 and worked his way up to the post of advertising director and assistant to the publisher of
The Press-Enterprise. He was named retail advertising manager in 1963, assistant advertising director in 1972, and advertising director in 1973. He became assistant to the publisher in 1990 and retired in January 1992.
Pia was a past president of the California Newspaper Advertising Executives Association and a past board member of the International Newspaper Advertising Executives.
