By: E&P Staff Nela, Oakdale, Minn., is introducing LogiStack to the U.S. market, offering intelligent plate sortation to help printers eliminate manual plate sorting for all web and sheetfed offset presses.
Unveiled at the Ifra Expo earlier this month in Vienna, LogiStack is a fully automated sorter with a staging queue that organizes imaged plates according to their location on press. Press-ready bent plates are automatically held in the staging queue until the press is ready for that specific printing job.
When a job is released, plates are automatically removed from the queue and delivered to the sorting bins based on press position, eliminating the time-consuming hand sorting that can result in damage to plates. Nela's LogiStack software interacts with press software to obtain information on where each plate must go on press.
The LogiStack comes in versions capable of storing 100, 200 and 300 plates. LogiStack modules can be combined to accommodate large plate-queue capacity needs. One module can sort up to 300 plates per hour.
