By: E&P Staff Plate-handling systems supplier Nela bought and is moving into a five-year-old building in River Falls, Wis., 10 miles from Minnesota. Now nine years in the United States, the German-owned company called its purchase "a significant step towards a long-term commitment" to the North and South American markets.

The building at 610 Whitetail Boulevard has 60,000 square feet, 50,000 of which is for manufacturing and the remainder for sales, marketing, accounting, engineering and technical field service.

"With this move and the purchase of our own real estate, we are committed to the long-term future of this company," Nela USA President David Klein said in a statement. "The economic situation enables us to make this move," he added, also citing unspecified "support" from the state of Wisconsin.

River Falls, population 13,000, is home to a campus of the University of Wisconsin and to Chippewa Valley Technical College.

Nela will leave Oakdale, Minn., its home for the past six years, by the end of this week. The company's new main telephone number is 715-425-1900 (715-425-1944 for technical support).
