By: E&P Staff In a project to be running at the end of 2009, Nela, Oakdale, Minn., will supply plate automation for the New York Daily News and its new KBA Commander CT press.
Able to process 320 singlewide plates per hour, each of three Nela Evolution high-speed vision/trim/punch/bend systems will be connected to a Krause/Fuji LS Jet platesetter and Bluefin plate processor, followed with a Multi-Position Plate Sortation System transporting plates to the pressroom.
The Nela Status Center and Nela plate-sortation software will monitor the entire system, including imagers and processors, and give feedback to the Krause/Wobe front-end system.
