By: E&P Staff Yes! Weekly, a new, free paper, will debut in Greensboro, N.C., in early January.
Published by Womack Newspapers, Inc., the alt-weekly will focus on the cultural, political, and artistic aspects of the city, according to a statement issued by Charles Womack III, president of the company.
Yes! Weekly will be distributed Wednesdays beginning in early January.
?Though YES! stands for Your Entertainment Source, it really will be much, much, more than that,? Womack said in the state. ?We plan to investigate and stir up issues and give the community some ?good long reads' -- something lacking in current local media.?
Womack, whose company is a division of Womack Publishing of Chatham, Va., owns the Adams Farm Gazette in Greensboro, the Jamestown News in Jamestown, and the Outer Banks Sentinel in Nags Head.
Brian Clarey, a writer and editor based in Greensboro, will be editor in chief of the new publication.
Yes! Weekly will be distributed free to more than 300 racks and business locations throughout Greensboro. The first press run will result in 30,000 copies hitting the streets.
