New Cartoonist Joins Phil Frank on 'Elderberries' Comic

By: E&P Staff "The Elderberries" co-creator Joe Troise has retired from the comic, effective today.

Universal Press Syndicate said the other co-creator, Phil Frank, will assume more responsibilities on the strip while sharing the writing and art with Corey Pandolph of Portland, Maine.

Pandolph is a comedy writer/cartoonist who creates the "Barkeater Lake" Web strip, which can be found at GoComics.com. He also does "Rob the Evil Backstabbing Robot" for Mad magazine's "Strip Club," and writes a weekly column for the Drink at Work humor site.

?The Elderberries,? syndicated by Universal since late 2004, is about a quintet of senior citizens living together in a retirement community. Its clients include the Chicago Sun Times, The Denver Post, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, The Oregonian of Portland, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and other newspapers.

Frank also does the long-running "Farley" comic for the San Francisco Chronicle.
