By: E&P Staff Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive has launched a new feature called "
On Faith," a collaborative, moderated, blog-like platform dedicated to encouraging "intelligent and respectful conversations on religion and faith" among people around the world.
The online platform will be hosted by Washington Post Writer Sally Quinn and Newsweek editor Jon Meacham, who will host interactive discussions with theologic luminaries like Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel, Mohammad Khatami, Dr. Rick Warren and other "diverse and prestigious thought leaders from around the world."
Every week, Quinn and Meacham will pose questions to the site's contributors, whose responses will be posted online. Topics for discussion will include from the nature of evil, the morality of fetal stem-cell research, and how to raise kids in multi-faith households.
"Media-generated debates on controversial topics often create more heat than honest discussion," said Quinn in a statement. "We're going to engage in an intelligent, respectful, and diverse conversation with people who've spent their lifetimes thinking about faith and religion."
