New Comic Stars Multi-ethnic Family

By: Dave Astor A comic called "Clear Blue Water" has been launched by Universal Press Syndicate.

The strip stars Eve Merriwether-Torres and Manny Torres, a married couple (with children) in their early 30s. Eve is a biracial, liberal housewife and frustrated writer/artist. Manny is an Hispanic man who works as a city planner and is getting more conservative. Also in the cast are superheros such as the Sweep It Under the Rug Duo, who "barge in whenever a subject is breached that they deem taboo."

"Clear Blue Water" is by Karen Montague-Reyes, a Florida-based mother of five. She is of mixed race -- including white, African American, and Native American -- and her husband is a U.S. Park Service ranger of Cuban descent.
