By: E&P Staff Bob Ludwig, publisher of The Huntsville (Ala.) Times, has assumed the additional title and responsibilities of editor.
Ludwig, 59, succeeds Melinda Gorham, who is taking early retirement for medical reasons, the paper reported today. Gorham, 49, became the Times? first female editor in 2002 after eight years as managing editor.
After serving as the editor of the Jackson (Mich.) Citizen-Patriot, Ludwig became vice president of sales for Booth Newspapers, part of the Newhouse family of newspapers.
Curtis Coghlan has been named the Times? managing editor. Coghlan, 51, has served as executive editor of The Jackson (Tenn.) Sun, The Pensacola News Journal and The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La.
The Alabama Press Association bestowed its General Excellence award to the Times this year.
