New EVP for Triple Crown Media

By: E&P Staff The publisher of The Albany (Ga.) Herald Michael Gebhart has been promoted to executive vice president of Triple Crown Media Inc. He will report directly to Robert Prather chairman of the company.

In his new role, Gebhart will oversee the operations of six dailies and one weekly based in Georgia. He will continue to serve as publisher of the Herald.

"Mike has done a great job with the Herald in the three-plus years he has been there," Prather said in a statement. "He has earned this right, and I am sure he will do a great job. I look forward to him running our newspaper group."

Gebhart joined the Herald in 2004 as general manager. Prior to that, he was senior vice president for Morning Star Publishing Co., in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. He was president and publisher of ACME of Admore, Pa.

Gebhart succeeds Thomas Stultz, who accepted a position with IMG in its purchase of Triple Crown's sports marketing division, Host Communications.

Triple Crown publishes the Gwinnett Daily Post, Rockdale Citizen, Newton Citizen, Henry Herald, and Jonesboro News-Daily and the weekly Jackson Progress-Argus.
