By: E&P Staff Belo announced a new executive team for A.H. Belo Corp. its newspaper division spin-off.
Robert Decherd will assume the role of chairman, president, and CEO of A.H. Belo while also serving as non-executive chairman of Belo. He is currently chairman and CEO of Belo.
Jim Moroney will take over as executive vice president of A.H. Belo with oversight of The Dallas Morning News, The Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., and The Providence (R.I.) Journal. He will continue to serve as publisher and CEO of the Morning News. Moroney will replace Decherd on the board of the Providence Journal Co.
"Jim has done an outstanding job as publisher and CEO of the Dallas Morning News since he assumed the position in 2001," Decherd said in a statement. "He has been a driving force in leading numerous transformational initiatives that have improved Belo's newspaper products and operations."
The company also said that Donald "Skip" Cass Jr. will be executive vice president with A.H. Belo serving in the same capacity he currently does for Belo with oversight of enterprise-wide Internet, business development and technology activities.
Both Moroney and Cass will report to Decherd.
Additionally, Alison Engel was appointed senior vice president, CFO. Daniel Blizzard was named senior vice president. Anna Nicodemus will to continue to serve as vice president/internal audit. Sheila Hartley will become vice president/human resources.
