New Ferag Mailroom for Finnish Daily

By: E&P Staff Turun Sanomat in Turku, Finland, is upgrading its mailroom, replacing 30-year-old Ferag systems with new Ferag technology, including two UTR conveyor systems and six MultiStack compensating stackers equipped with LineMaster control for programmed bundling. The latest generation of strappers -- the SmartStrap C36 -- also will be used.

Operating on the matrix principle, the system provides the flexibility of assigning newspaper copies to any of the MultiStack units off either UTR conveyor. Even with complex distribution structures involving a high number of odd counts, optimum utilization will be guaranteed at maximum production speeds, according to Ferag.

Dismantling of the old line and installation of the new Ferag system will take place in two phases between October 2009 and the first quarter of 2010.
