By: E&P Staff Verizon and the North Jersey Media Group have announced that local journalists will be partnering with Verizon to start making regular appearances on Verizon's FiOS1 New Jersey local news channel.

Beginning Oct. 11, reporters, columnists and editors from publications such as The Record, the Herald News and other North Jersey Media Group publications will be providing news, features and commentary.

The FiOS1 channel, available on Channel 1, provides North Jersey Verizon viewers with hyperlocal news on weather, traffic and local affairs, as well as college and high school sports.

A mini-studio is being set up in The Record?s newsroom, allowing the paper?s staff to provide current reports and analysis of local news, as well as letting the viewers see into the newsroom.

?This partnership will bring viewers another team of experienced reporters and photographers who aim to give New Jerseyans cutting-edge news, events and commentary as it unfolds in the state,? Michelle Webb, general manager and chief programming officer for Verizon FiOS1, said in a statement.

?It's a natural extension of what we do every day, and will complement our print and online offerings,? Frank Scandale, editor of The Record, added in a statement.

Verizon also provides FiOS1 channels in the Washington, D.C. and Long Island areas.
