By: E&P Staff Steven Gellman was named publisher of L.A., the Los Angeles Times Magazine, on Friday as the monthly marked its first anniversary and announced its first event -- a "conversation" on health and wellness at a Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., resort.
"Steve Gellman brings the winning combination of experience and ingenuity to grow and extend the possibilities of L.A.'s vision and we're very pleased to have him on board," said John O'Loughlin, Los Angeles Times Media Group executive vice president, advertising sales.
Gellman will lead L.A. with Editor in Chief Annie Gilbar, overseeing business operations and strategy including advertising, marketing, promotion and events.
He has held executive positions with several industry publications, including The Hollywood Reporter (which, like E&P, is owned by The Nielsen Co.); Los Angeles magazine; and BAM, the California music magazine where he started his media career.
"We've seen the Magazine's rich editorial environment resonate with iconic luxury brands such as Cartier and Louis Vuitton while also attracting premium entertainment properties like HBO and Showtime -- and we're looking forward to offering marketers even more ways to partner with us in our second year," Gellman said in a statement.
