By: E&P Staff Peterson is the oldest town in Clay County, Iowa, and its weekly Peterson Patriot (paid circulation 550), has been published for more than 120 years. So many mourned when Jane and Roger Stoner said they would be discontinuing publication if they did not find a buyer. Fortunately, Richard Radtke took the couple seriously.
Radtke has purchased the Patriot and will publish it as a part of his group of newspapers in nearby Sutherland, Primghar, Paullina, and Marcus, beginning this week.
"I'm glad we found a buyer," editor-ad manager Jane Stoner told the Sioux City Journal. "It's just too old a paper to let die."
Radtke, former editor of the Cherokee Daily Times, says he plans no immediate changes in the Patriot, beyond composition and printing. Jane Stoner will become managing editor.
