By: E&P Staff In its strategy to continuously extend the capabilities of PDF in print production and document management environments, callas software, Berlin, Germany, announced a new way to view, manage and extract all metadata embedded in PDF files.
The company's pdfToolbox 4 provides a simple way to deal with relatively complex PDF manipulations. Scheduled for release this month, the new version of pdfToolbox includes new metadata capabilities, offering practical ways to extend production automation, administrative capabilities for PDF workflows, or to enrich the experience of viewing PDF files.
The pdfToolbox 4 feature allows users to explore and export XMP information embedded in a PDF file to a fully configurable report in XML or tab-delimited format. Data linked to the document and to individual images in the PDF can be retrieved. The metadata can easily be navigated, filtered or grouped through an intuitive interface. By combining XMP metadata with data about the placement of images, XMP metadata becomes more useful.
The release supports all major XMP standards, including IPTC, EXIF, AdsML, PLUS Picture Licensing Universal System, Medibel+/GWG AdTicket, PDF/A, Creative Commons, PRISM and Camera Raw.
