New Publisher for 'Centre Daily Times'

By: E&P Staff Susan D. Leath has been appointed president and publisher of the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa. In her previous role at the McClatchy-owned paper, she headed up advertising and marketing.

Leath succeeds Adrian Pratt, who resigned. Pratt said in a statement that the decision to leave was his.

"I want to thank Adrian for his very capable leadership and wish him all the best in his next endeavors," Gary Pruitt, Chairman and CEO of McClatchy, said in a statement. "While we're sorry to see Adrian go, we're pleased to promote Susan to this important post. She's an energetic leader, a proven performer and a wonderful fit to guide the Centre Daily Times to a bright future."

Leath, 44, has been with the Centre Daily Times since July 2005. Prior to that, she was at The Tuscaloosa (Ala.) News where she served as an advertising director. She was also a sales manager for the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times.

"I truly believe this is a great moment to lead," Leath said in a statement. "The Centre Daily Times has a talented group of dedicated professionals committed to proving quality news and information. We are innovators who are constantly seeking new ideas to better serve the community."
