By: E&P Staff ProImage, of Akiva, Israel, and Princeton, N.J., will launch new software at the Ifra Expo in Amsterdam next month, including NewsWay Blaze, an easy-to-install boxed PDF workflow for small-circulation newspapers, iNewsProof to provide Internet proofing and approval, and version 5.0 of its NewsWay automated workflow solution.
NewsWay 5.0 provides full PDF and TIFF prepress workflow, for single or multiple sites, and is more tightly integrated with computer-to-plate and press functions.
New plate-allocation provides the option of defining the position of each plate on the press (tower, cylinder, and location on a cylinder). Using the tool, NewsWay can calculate the number of plates to be made and will output the plates with appropriate annotation and barcode for sorting.
Version 5.0 supports data import from a range of press-control systems. It can cross-reference the press plan with an editorial plan to ensure a printable editorial pagination and color configuration. It also tightens and makes more efficient ABB MPS/NewsWay integration, and incorporates a new MPS Import Wizard.
NewsWay version 5.0 provides an embedded RIP, preflight plug-in, distiller plug-in, SQL-based production reporting, and imposition engine for TIFF and PDF files.
Sitting outside of a newspaper firewall, iNewsProof provides Internet proofing and approval without jeopardizing production security. The iNewsProof server enables authorized users to view and approve ads or pages. Once approved, the iNewsProof server communicates via encrypted link with the NewsWay production server, and approved pages continue in the workflow, providing a secure option for advertisers or remote users to view and approve without connecting to the main production server.
The new version also provides an enhanced user interface and improved security.
