By: E&P Staff On Sunday Aug. 24, a new look will greet readers of The Sun in Baltimore.
One of the biggest
changes: The paper will officially adopt its city in its nameplate becoming The Baltimore Sun.
The daily paper will consist of three sections. News will carry local business, national, international, and business stories, opinions and a new feature called 24 hours of photos. The feature section will be called "You" and will be themed on a daily basis. The sports section will change from a tab to a broadsheet.
Sunday will consist of the additional sections of Travel, Real Estate, Money and Life, and Maryland Closeup. The recruitment-classified section, called "Find It!" will turn into a tabloid.
"It's a more visual newspaper for a more visual age," Editor Tim Franklin said in a statement. "It's bolder, with more color, more photos and more of our personalities displayed prominently."
The Sun is the latest of the Tribune papers to unveil a redesign following its sister publications in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In June, Tribune executives announced a plan to cut 500 pages weekly from its newspapers and institute a 50/50 ad to edit ratio.
