By: E&P Staff Retail giant Target, the big newspaper advertiser, on Tuesday launched a section in its Web site that will prominently feature content from DailyCandy.com, the Web site owned by cable TV operator Comcast.
The partnership blurs the line between a shopping site and a content-rich site. DailyCandy, which also publishes an e-mail newsletter, targets a female audience with its coverage of fashion and culture.
In the partnership, first reported by Emily Steel in The Wall Street Journal Tuesday, Target will pay DailyCandy to advertise on the section of its Target.com site, which is called Red Hot Shop. DailyCandy producers will feature particular items available at Target. They will also produce articles and graphics for the site.
Target recently began selling ads on other parts of its site, such as the "New at Target" box on its home page that features a particular product and is paid for by the product maker.
