By: E&P Staff In an effort to capture teen readers, The Boston Globe Foundation and WriteBoston are launching a new citywide paper called T.i.P., Boston Teens in Print. The paper, written by teens, will make its debut on May 11 in 33 Boston public high schools.
"We want this newspaper to be for teens, and by teens, so that it covers local news, advice, school news, teen profiles and information that appeals to them," said Betty Southwick, director of WriteBoston, a two-year old writing initiative for high school students, in a statement.
The idea behind T.i.P. is to get teens interested in papers so they will continue reading them as adults and, maybe even work at one. Phil Donahue, a high school student who worked on the first edition of T.i.P said in a statement, "I might want to be a journalist some day."
