New Times Co. Building Will Open to Public in September 2007

By: E&P Staff The New York Times Company has announced that the Times Center, its new Renzo Piano-designed headquarters on 42nd St. and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan, will open its doors to public events starting in September, 2007.

The Center will house two large venues: The Stage (a 378-seat auditorium with wireless Internet capabilities for meetings and lectures, and dressing rooms for various productions), and The Hall (capable of accommodating 700 people for a reception). Both will serve the private and non-profit communities, and will be the home of TimesTalks and other New York Times events.

The company says the entrance ot the new building will be fitting of Times Square's grandeur with a dramatic open staircase leading up to The Stage. With an equally dramatic backdrop, The Stage's rear wall offers hosts the options of a glass wall (to showcase the tower's interior garden), a black screen, or a translucent covering.

Booking for the two venues has already begun.
