New Weekly Launches in Southern Illinois

By: The word is out: Southern Illinois' Perry County has a new weekly newspaper.

The first issue of Jeff Egbert's Pinckneyville Press hit the streets last week.

It's taking the place of The Pinckneyville Democrat, which went out of business in March.

Egbert was born and reared in Perry County but moved away, only to return to the region and launch the newspaper.

For the first four weeks, the new newspaper will be delivered free to anyone with a Pinckneyville address.
