By: E&P Staff "The Supermarket Shopper" columnist Martin Sloane is retiring effective the week of Dec. 4. He'll be succeeded by Stephanie Nelson, who's known as "The Coupon Mom."
Sloane has written the twice-weekly United Media column since 1979.
Nelson is a regular on-air contributor to ABC-TV's "Good Morning America" and a biweekly columnist for ABCNews.com. She also spent 10 years as a sales executive with Procter & Gamble and Marriott Hotels.
The new United columnist, who has a degree in finance, is known for saving significant money on groceries by combining coupons with in-store promotions. Nelson helped set up a Web site -- CutOutHunger.com -- that people can use to donate some of these lower-cost groceries to charity.
