New York Times Provides Q4 EPS

By: E&P Staff The New York Times Co. announced on Wednesday that Q4 earnings per share are expected to be in the range of $.45 to $.47 compared with $.75 in the same period last year.

The estimate includes expenses for the company's staff reduction program announced in September of $34 to $37 million or $.14 to $.15 per share. The company plans to take a charge associated with the staff reductions in Q1 of 2006.

In addition, in Q4, the company plans to record approximately $16 to $17 million or $.7 per share of stock-based compensation expense -- that expense is expected to be $31 to $33 million. Previously, the company had the estimated expense of $28 to $32 million.
