New York Times Syndicate Offers New Ross Douthat Column

Posted
By: E&P Staff The New York Times Syndicate is now offering the first column by Ross Douthat, the newest Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times. Douthat articulates his sharp observations on politics, foreign and national affairs in his weekly column.

Douthat is a film critic and contributing editor to National Review. He first gained recognition as a columnist and senior editor at The Atlantic, and his work has since appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, The Weekly Standard, The New Republic and GQ. He is also the author of "Grand New Party: How Republicans Can Win the Working Class and Save the American Dream" with Reihan Salam (Doubleday, 2008) and "Privilege: Harvard and the Education of the Ruling Class" (Hyperion, 2005).

In his opening column, Douthat envisions what might have happened if Dick Cheney became the Republican party presidential candidate to take on Barack Obama. If that had happened, "the conservative movement might -- might! -- have been jolted into the kind of rethinking that's necessary if it hopes to regain power," he writes.
