The New Zealand Herald’s switch from broadsheet to “compact” is not an economic decision but an opportunity to reinvigorate the offering of newspapers, according to its publisher.

“It’s actually about responding to what our readers want,” APN New Zealand Media chief executive, Martin Simons told News Now.

The Monday to Friday paper will go “compact” in September while the Saturday edition will remain a broadsheet.
