By: E&P Staff As previously reported here, Gannett will close its Advantage Press in Carroll, Ohio. The company has announced that the plant will end operations in February, eliminating 50 jobs and moving some print work to the pressroom of The Advocate, in Newark, which already prints about a half-dozen Gannett titles.
Advantage Press printed for more than 30 customers, among them The Lantern, for Ohio State University.
Gannett publications to be printed at the Newspaper Network of Central Ohio, based in Newark, include Gannett's Newark-Licking County Advertiser and the Chillicothe Gazette, about 40 miles from Carroll and almost 80 miles from Newark. The Gazette ceased printing on its own Goss Community press a little over a year ago.
Four positions eliminated this week at the Advocate are in non-production areas.
