By: E&P Staff The News Journal, in Wilmington, Del., today launched a daily interactive Webcast on its site, delawareonline.com.
Patti Pettite, formerly a news anchor and reporter for WEST, in Lynchburg, Va., will anchor an original Webcast twice each day on the newspaper's Web site. Each broadcast will feature exclusive local video shot by News Journal photographers and online producers, they will focus on breaking news and the top stories reported by the News Journal, and they will include comprehensive links to News Journal coverage.
The News Journal believes this is the first regular Webcast of its kind.
The latest Webcast will launch automatically when users arrive at delawareonline.com from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m. At other times, there will be a link available on the home page to play the Webcast.
"We believe this is a great addition to the media mix we currently provide to readers and advertisers through the state of Delaware," W. Curtis Riddle, president and publisher of the News Journal, said in a statement. "Our goal is to provide the public with comprehensive news coverage in a continually evolving format to better serve the neess of the citizens of Delaware."
Riddle also noted that the Webcast is particularly appropriate given that Delaware has no local television stations devoted to Delaware-only news.
