Newsday Columnist Bob Glauber Named 2011 New York Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association

Melville, NY, January 25, 2012 – Newsday columnist Bob Glauber has been named the 2011 New York Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), which honors excellence in sportscasting and sportswriting. He will receive the award at the 53rd Annual NSSA Awards Banquet on June 11, 2012 in Salisbury, NC.

This is the first NSSA award for Glauber. He was honored by the New York State Associated Press in the summer of 2011, sweeping the top three spots in the sports column category. Glauber has been honored numerous times by the Professional Football Writers of America, among many other writing awards.

Glauber has been Newsday’s National Football League (NFL) columnist since 1992, and covered the Giants, Jets and NFL for Newsday from 1989 - 1991.
