Newsday Debuts 'In Transit' Program in NYC

Posted
By: E&P Staff Newsday has struck a deal with NY1--a 24-hour Time Warner Cable channel--to produce "In Transit," a weekly news program that covers the city's mass transit.

Ray Sanchez, transit columnist for Newsday's New York City edition, will make frequent appearances on the show that will cover breaking news as well as lighter features like "Underground Sounds," spotlighting subway performers.

The 15-minute program launches on October 1 and will run every Friday at 8:45 pm.

In 1994, the now-defunct New York Newsday and NY1 launched "The Straphangers Report," which aired for three years. The program continued for an additional two years in collaboration with Newsday after Times Mirror shuttered the New York City paper.
